Brown Mackie College — Tulsa offers
Associate of Applied Science in Nursing Degree Program
(Tulsa, OK – January 13, 2012) Brown Mackie College — Tulsa now offers an Associate of Applied Science in Nursing degree program that prepares students for the National Council Licensure Examination - Registered Nursing (NCLEX-RN) examination to become a registered nurse (RN). The program aims to prepare graduates to function as highly-skilled members of the health care team in hospitals, long term care facilities, home health and a variety of other health care settings. The program also enables students to acquire principles and knowledge from the biological and behavioral sciences, as well as the science of nursing.
“We are delighted to offer the Nursing degree program to students and to our community," says John Pappas, President of Brown Mackie College — Tulsa. "Our goal is to be a higher education institution in the Greater Tulsa community that provides well trained skilled nurses to the healthcare industry."
According to the Occupational Outlook Handbook, 2010-2011 Edition (http://www.bls.gov/oco/ocos083.htm), employment of registered nurses is expected to grow by 22 percent from 2008 to 2018, much faster than the average for all occupations. Growth will be driven by technological advances in patient care, which permit a greater number of health problems to be treated, and by an increasing emphasis on preventive care. In addition, the number of older people, who are much more likely than younger people to need nursing care, is projected to grow rapidly.
