Brown Mackie College – North Canton recently graduated its first class in the Associates of Applied Science in the Surgical Technology degree program. “We are excited to offer this new program in the Canton region,” says Peter Perkowski, President of Brown Mackie College – North Canton. “The program will help our graduates enter an exciting career in the medical field and make a positive difference in the health care of patients.”
The Associates in Surgical Technology degree program recently received programmatic accreditation from ABHES (Accrediting Bureau of Health Education Schools) through 2013. This accreditation allows graduating students to take the National Certification Exam to become a Certified Surgical Technologist (CST). Most employment opportunities encourage or require CST certification.
Graduates can be employed by hospitals, outpatient surgery centers, physician offices, dental practices and could become medical sales representatives.
The Associates in Surgical Technology degree program is designed to provide students with the knowledge base and technical skills required to pursue entry-level employment in the field of surgical technology. The program curriculum provides study in general and specialty surgical procedures, principles of anesthesia, anatomy and physiology, medical terminology and surgical technology techniques.
The North Canton campus is currently enrolling students for the Surgical Technology program. For more information about the program or how to apply, contact the admissions department at (330) 494-1214.
